Dear Friends in Mission,

Each edition of ALIVE invites us to pause and
recognize the many ways God’s grace moves
through our Marianist Family. The collection of
stories in this issue reflects that
grace with particular clarity.
From reflections on Mary’s
Assumption — rooted in her
courageous fiat — to the simple
joy of summer through Marianist
Brother Chicago Shuller’s barbecue
to the recovery of Saint Marianne
Cope’s relics from her original
resting place by Chaminade
University of Honolulu forensic
students, each article reveals how
our shared “yes” continues to
bear fruit.
Our recently deceased and
beloved Marianist Father Quentin Hakenewerth
reminds us that “The more we imitate Mary’s
openness, the more God can accomplish through
our ordinary lives.” This truth threads through
every page of this issue. Whether in ministry,
community life, education, or simple acts of
hospitality, God continues to work through the
daily “yes” of countless individuals who embody
Mary’s spirit.
This issue also includes our Annual Report,
a testament to the many ways you join Mary in
bringing Christ to the world. Every gift —
large or small — becomes part of a larger story
of hope. Thank you for your trust, your part
nership, and your willingness to say “yes”
alongside us.
And finally, we also offer heartfelt words of
gratitude to our outgoing Marianist Province
of the United States leadership team: Father
Oscar Vasquez, SM; Brother Bernard Ploeger, SM;
Father Timothy Kenney, SM; and Brother Joseph
Markel, SM. Their steady guidance, generous
service, and deep love for the Marianist Charism
have shaped our community in lasting ways.
We honor their dedication and the spirit of faith
that has marked their eight years of service.
As you read this issue, may you find inspira
tion in Mary’s openness, encouragement in the
witness of our saints, joy in our shared community
life, and renewed purpose in the mission we
carry together. May these pages remind us that
God continues to work through every sincere
“yes,” drawing us into deeper communion and
sending us forth as instruments of peace and hope.

In mission with Mary and her Son, Jesus,
