HEEDING
n the previous issue, we introduced Marianist Brother Ed Violett and
Marianist Father Bob Jones, the new Provincial and Assistant Provincial,
respectively. Now we meet the three men who, guided by the Blessed
Mother, round out the newly installed Provincial Council and lend their vast
knowledge and experience to the Marianist Province of the United States.
Brother Bob Metzger, SM
A familiar face in the Province offices, Marianist
Brother Bob Metzger will serve as Assistant for
Temporalities. With over 45 years in financial
management, money matters are Bro. Bob’s forte,
and this is his second time serving the Council
in this capacity.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, where he graduated
from Chaminade High School in 1967, Bro. Bob
earned a BBA in accounting in 1981 from St. Mary’s
University in San Antonio and became a certified
public accountant in Ohio in 1984. Although his
plan was to teach high school after he professed
first vows in 1968, he listened to Mary’s words at Cana — “Do whatever
He tells you” — and followed Jesus’ direction to financial service.
Bro. Bob’s experience includes serving as business manager of the
Bergamo Retreat Center in Dayton, as treasurer and assistant treasurer
of the Cincinnati Province, and two stints in his most recent position as
director of finance for the Province of the U.S. His Marianist leadership has
also extended to the boards of St. John Vianney High School in Kirkwood,
Missouri, Chaminade Julienne High School and University of Dayton,
both in Dayton.
