b'Vocation is a journeySister Gabby professed first vows as aMarianist Sister in May 2017. In onesense, you choose vocation, she says. But in another sense, vocation choosesyou. I very much feel that the MarianistFamily chose me. Yet, it is still a journey. A vocation is something you continue to grow into for the rest of your life.Sister Gabby lives in a community offive sisters at University of Dayton. Oneof the greatest joys of living in an authenticcommunity is sharing all aspects of life the ups and the downs, she says. It isheld together by generosity, forgiveness, joy and laughter. And I love our life ofprayer and following the rhythm of theliturgical calendar. Its so enriching. She is not alone in her love of religiouslife. She is part of a group called GivingVoice, comprised of 300 young sistersunder age 50 from various Catholic reli-gious orders (primarily in the UnitedStates), that provides retreats for sistersseveral times a year. Sister Gabby is co-chair of the 2019 retreat for sisters intheir 20s and 30s and is encouraged by thegrowing number of younger women in hermidst. Young people are being called tothis life and want to accept the call to serveGod, she says. Keeping Marianist history aliveSister Gabby works part-time at the NorthAmerican Center for Marianist Studies(NACMS) while she completes her mastersin theology at UD. At NACMS, shes beenproducing a series of monthly podcasts calledSharing our Marianist Stories.
