BRO. JOSÉ LUIS GONZÁLEZ MOLINA PROFESSES FIRST VOWS IN MEXICO

Bro. José Luis González Molina professed first vows on Jan. 22 at the Chapel of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Querétaro, Mexico. Fr. Quentin Hakenewerth served as the main celebrant and homilist, and Bro. Ed Longbottom received the vows. A reception followed in the chapel’s Adela Center. Festivities concluded with a dinner for 35 guests in the Marianist community’s dining room. The dinner was prepared and served by Bro. Fermin Garcia and his assistants from the school of culinary arts “Maria Reina” in Puebla, Mexico.
Bro. José Luis, born in Chiapas, Mexico, is one of 10 children born to José González Torres and Dolores Molina Sánchez. He entered the novitiate in Santiago de Chile on March 1, 2010. Congratulations and blessings, Bro. José Luis!

FRS. JOSEPH BARLA AND XAVIER RAJ ORDAINED IN INDIA
On Jan. 29, Frs. Joseph Barla and Fr. Xavier Raj were ordained by Cardinal Telesphore P. Toppo at the Marianist Novitiate Nirmal Deep in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India.
Both Frs. Joseph and Xavier professed first vows on April 29, 2000, and perpetual vows on Jan. 5, 2006. Fr. Joseph is director of the Marianist Community in Binda and works in the Chaminade Rural Development Project (CRDP). Fr. Xavier is director of the Marianist Community in Khamman, Andhra Pradesh, and serves at the Jakob Gapp School.

MSJC STEERING COMMITTEE HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING
The Marianist Social Justice Collaborative’s Steering Committee held its annual meeting in New Orleans from Jan. 13 – 15. Brenda Fitzpatrick, outgoing chair, hosted the meeting, which was a blend of planning, prayer and education. The committee set priorities for the next several years, visited parts of the city hard hit by Hurricane Katrina to learn about the successes and failures of recovery efforts, and installed Ted Gorczyca as the organization’s new chair.

MARIANIST CANDIDATES FOR SAINTHOOD INSPIRE PRAYER, DEVOTION
As Chaminade Year draws to a close, members of the Marianist Family continue to celebrate the founder’s influence. The intercession of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, whose cause for canonization is being considered in Rome, is most recently credited with the healing of St. Louisan Rachel Lozano of terminal cancer. The Vatican is investigating this cure, described in an article from the St. Louis Review from July 2010. Learn more about Blessed Chaminade’s Cause for Canonization.
As the newly appointed U.S. Province liaison to the Postulator General for Marianist Causes, Fr. Paul Landolfi (left) promotes the cause of Blessed Chaminade and those of the other Marianist martyrs and venerables. Thanks toBro. John Samaha, who served well in this role for 10 years. Fr. With the readers of FamilyOnline, Fr. Paul shares an inspiring talk given by Rachel on World Youth Day, Aug. 15, 2011, at the Colegio Nuestra Señora del Pilarin Madrid. Her cure, she said, is “an unexplainable miracle that I attribute to prayers of intercession to Blessed Chaminade and God’s miraculous healing. I cannot express enough how eternally grateful I am for this special gift.”
One of Fr. Paul’s responsibilities is to encourage others to learn about these holy Marianists and to seek their intercession. “These individuals can serve as role models for all of us — religious and lay alike — in living the Marianist charism,” said Fr. Paul. “As members of the Marianist Family, we are called to give witness to the world as a ‘nation of saints.’”

On Jan. 4, 2012, Rachel gave a talk to the students at Chaminade Madonna College Preparatory in Hollywood, Fla. “When I asked a student how she felt about the whole experience, she told me that listening to Mrs. Lozano touched her deeply in her soul,” said Rev. FOUR SEMINARIANS ORDAINED AS DEACONS ON JAN. 14
