Fr. Joe with his “grandfather clock” jigsaw puzzle

How’s this for a simple retirement job? Fr. Joe Stefanelli (Villa St. Joseph, Cupertino) is currently assisting NACMS by translating “The Founder’s Thought,” a multi-volume work that contains all the writings of Blessed Chaminade except for his letters. In his “spare” time, Fr. Joe crochets and works on jigsaw puzzles, completing hundreds of intricate puzzles, most of which he gives as gifts or donations. Fr. Joe is a prolific writer, editor and translator of publications about the founders, including: “Our Marianist Heritage”; a set of three popular books on Chaminade, Adèle and Marie Thérèse; and the only full-length biography on Marie Thérèse, entitled “Mlle de Lamourous.” Although born in Cincinnati, Fr. Joe served mostly in the Pacific Province, where he worked on a farm in Santz Cruz and served as novicemaster and provincial. He also was director of religious life at the General Administration in Rome. Read a list of publications Fr. Joe has written, edited or translated, all available from NACMS.
