Fr. Gabriel Ng'ang'a Kirangah, 37, was ordained Oct. 29, 2005, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Nairobi, Kenya. He is the first Marianist to be ordained a priest in the District of Eastern Africa. Archbishop Raphael Ndingi Mwana'a Nzeki served as the ordaining bishop, and Fr. George Cerniglia (General Administration) gave the homily. Bro. Chola Mulenga called Fr. Gabriel to this position of service, and all of the Marianists present affirmed this call. Fr. Martin Solma presented Fr. Gabriel to the archbishop for ordination. The colorful ceremony included Burundi drummers and the dancers and choir of St. Joseph the Worker Church, Fr. Gabriel's former parish in Nairobi. Fr. Mike Nartker, district assistant for religious life, planned the ordination and the reception that followed. Also in attendance was Bro. José María Alvira (General Administration). In January, Fr. Gabriel will begin Clinical Pastoral Education at Kenyatta Hospital as part of his pastoral year, during which he will serve also at various parishes and Marianist ministries. Congratulations and prayers to Fr. Gabriel!
