Sharing Fund in Action
STUDENTS GROW THROUGH IMMERSION EXPERIENCE
Digging
ditches in the Uxpanapa Valley |
The Marianist
Sharing Fund changes lives in many ways. The high school “immersion
experience” is a good example. Last spring, nine boys from St.
John Vianney High School in St. Louis, together with girls
from Nerinx High School in St. Louis, assisted Bro. Bob Rapp
in the rural Uxpanapa Valley in Mexico, building pig pens, digging ditches,
pouring concrete and painting. Said Vianney student Chris Flieger: “In
a short time, the Vianney students became part of the community. The
experience really opened their eyes to the contributions they can make
on a worldwide scale, as well as in St. Louis. The experienced allowed
them to grow as individuals.” Has
your community identified a potential grant proposal? For
guidelines and applications, visit the
Marianist Web site.
