COMMUNITY SCHOOL OFFERS HOPE IN BALTIMORE
The
Community School was
established in 1982 by residents of the Remington community in Baltimore
City to support youth who suffer from a poor educational system, a high
dropout rate and conditions of poverty and danger. Bro. Frank
O’Donnell and the Baltimore Marianist community have
been a presence in this neighborhood school since its inception. Bro.
Frank organized an advisory board and has helped expand school services
through the Marianist Sharing Fund. Justin Switzer,
2005 class valedictorian, said at graduation: “I plan to succeed
where others have failed, live where others have died, and give where
others have taken. I plan to assure that my life will be great . . .”
