More than forty presidents and principals of Marianist high schools and members of the Province’s Office of Education met in Fort Worth Oct. 18 to Oct. 21 for the annual School Administrators Conference. Bishop Kevin Vann of the Diocese of Fort Worth welcomed the administrators. The presidents of the three Marianist universities – Bro. Bernie Ploeger, Dr. Charles Cotrell and Dr. Dan Curran – made presentations to the group. Fr. Richard Wosman spoke on “Administrators of Schools in the Marianist Tradition.” At Nolan Catholic High School, the administrators participated in a video conferencing demonstration, and were joined by the Nolan Marianist community for prayer and dinner. “The discussion between our university and high school administrators was the highlight of the meeting for me,” said Bro. I’m grateful to the administrators for their continued work of nurturing and strengthening the Marianist charism in the schools.”

Bro. Leo Willett

Tom Knaffla, and Ted Zimmer

Bro. Leo Willett (Marianist Residence, San Antonio) recently visited St. Thomas More High School in Milwaukee to admire a plaque honoring the Marianists and their 45 years of service to schools in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The plaque reads:

For 45 years, Marianist Brothers and Priests taught and spiritually formed students in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee at: Messmer High School 1944-1945, Don Bosco High School 1945-1972, St. Thomas More High School 1972-1989. By this plaque, the Class of 1958 recognizes and commemorates the lives and efforts of these Marianists, who were inspired by the example of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, who founded the Society of Mary in Bordeaux, France, in 1817. The Marianists live in Milwaukee now and forever in the lives of their spiritual descendants—their students and the generations that descend from their students. Don Bosco High School Class of 1958.
