GOVERNOR'S ISLAND - A PLACE TO RELAX

The community at Governor's Island in Ohio is ready to host visitors or retreatants who want an ideal place to rest and relax. Located on Indian Lake (about 1-1/2 hours north of Dayton), the property offers boating, fishing and swimming. The original house was built as a lodge by a governor of Ohio in the 1920s (thus the name) and was acquired by the Marianists in the 1950s. Fifteen years ago, an addition of six rooms was built. The retreats are held in the "bunk house," which has 16 rooms that sleep 22 comfortably. There is also a large gathering room and a small kitchen. Bros. Bill Deanhofer, Jim Russell and Don Smith host many guests throughout the year. Groups should be lay or religious Marianist or be accompanied by a Marianist. Contact Bro. Don at 937.842.4902; donsm@earthlink.net or Marianist Community, 9636 Lakeshore Drive East, Huntsville, OH 43324.
