MARIANISTS ELECTED TO GENERAL COUNCIL

Assistant for Temporalities
Bro. Ed Violett, 46,
Province of the United States, professed first vows in 1982. He is
an assistant professor of international relations at St. Mary’s
University in San Antonio. Prior to St. Mary’s, Bro. Ed served
for 12 years in the District of India as managing trustee and chief
operating and financial officer of the Marianist Trust in Bangalore,
Ranchi, India. He also served as the executive director of the Ragpickers
Education and Development Scheme (REDS) in Bangalore. Bro. Ed is former
director of the Marianist Vocation Service at St. Mary’s University
and former business manager and conference director of the Marianist
Retreat and Conference Center in Eureka, Mo. Bro. Ed has a Ph.D. in
Social Policy and Administration from the London School of Economics
and Political Science. He also has a master’s degree in administration
from the College of Business at Notre Dame University and a bachelor’s
degree in business administration from St. Mary’s University.
Bro. Ed is president of the Provincial Chapter in the United States
and director of the temporary professed.

Bro. José María
Alvira, 57, Province of Zaragoza, was re-elected to this
position by receiving more than two-thirds of the votes. He was born
in Zaragoza, Spain, and professed first vows in 1967. He has done
university studies in Mathematics and graduate studies in Pastoral
Theology. |

Assistant for Religious Life
Fr. André Fétis,
45, District of Ivory Coast, was born in Périgueux, France.
He made his novitiate at Art-sur-Meurthe and professed first vows in
1985 at Bordeaux. He studied theology at the Gregorianum in Rome. Fr.
André was ordained in 1996, at Antony. Currently, he is the
rector of the Marian Shrine in Abidjan. Before going to Abidjan, Fr.
André majored in music at the University. He was also the master
of novices. |
