Anniversary: Founding of the
Sodality |
|
On February 2, 1801, Father
Chaminade gave birth to the Sodality: his vision
for the spiritual regeneration of France in the
wake of the French Revolution. On this day, the
first lay Marianists committed to incarnating
Father Chaminade's vision. The Sodality would be
the seedbed for the Society of Mary and the
Daughters of Mary. This was the genesis point of
the entire Marianist Family. In 1824, Chaminade
wrote a letter to the pastors of Bordeaux
defending the Sodality, its means and
ends.
