The North American Center for Marianist Studies (NACMS) is pleased to welcome Michael Brennan as its newest intern. Michael began his work at the NACMS Philadelphia office on September 2, 2008.

For the past two years, Michael has volunteered at the Institute of Integrated Rural Development with Father William Christensen, SM.

As a member of the Center for Economic Social Justice, Michael became familiar with the writings of Father William Ferree, SM, and was drawn to the Marianist approach to eradicating poverty through education and development. Through CESJ, he met Father Christensen in 2001.

His curiosity about Marianist life was increased after meeting two lay Marianists from St. Mary's University who were visiting Bangladesh--Dr. Larry Hufford, professor of political science and director of the graduate international relations program, and Greg Pardo, an alumnus.

Michael has begun reading core texts on Marianist spirit and history and will be taking virtual learning courses throughout the year. His contributing project probably will focus on principles of the Founders that guide Marianists involved in service to others.
