Spirit
of Saragossa
Retreat
The offices of
the International
Center for Marianist
formation were the site of the meeting of the Steering Committee [See
photo] which is charged with the promotion and advancement of the
thirty-day Marianist retreat known as "The Spirit of
Saragossa." At the 7-9 July 2008 meeting, the
Committee reviewed the past instances and future plans for the retreat.
In order to assist in the continuing formation of directors capable
of conducting this retreat, several initiatives are being considered,
e.g.: a manual for retreat directors and another training workshop.
According to our information, there have been Saragossa
retreats in the following countries: Kenya,
Chile, India (2), Peru,
Côte d'Ivoire (2), Japan, Togo,
and the USA.
While the full format for this retreat is 30 days, it has been adapted
to a 6, 8, and 10 day format. Samples of these formats in the
original language of the retreat will be on the web site along with
resources developed for these retreats (also in the original
language).

information and resources for this retreat and learn the names of the Steering
Committee. The resources can be adapted for various formation
settings for religious and lay Marianists.

various activities to foster family spirit and cross-cultural
competencies among young Marianists from around the world.
Letters have gone out to Unit Superiors of the Society of Mary and the
Daughters of Mary in a call for participants. The program is
planned for 10 July - 10 August 2010 in Bordeaux, France.

E-learning
Courses in Spanish. The e-learning initiative for the Spanish-speaking
Marianist world has been successfully launched. The course on the
lives of the founders has been offered twice and is scheduled for several
more offerings in 2009.
I recently

to work with members of the Marianist Family to plan and develop
courses. Two more courses - The Marianist Charism and Community in
the Marianist Tradition - are presently being refined and will be ready
in early 2009. Photos of the groups I worked with are on this
page and the names of those involved are on our web site.
Click here to find out information, the schedule of courses
and to register for these courses. The new courses will be added
gradually so come back often to the ICMF web site to find out what is
available.

E-learning Courses in French. The French-speaking e-learning project is
temporarily suspended.
E-learning

develop and offer courses. Coming up in the first months of 2009

includes: a 360-degree on-line assessment instrument with follow-up
coaching; guided reading; a five-day workshop in July 2009; each brother
selecting a "change project" to work on during a year that
includes interaction with each other and mentors and finally a ten-day

Where
We Were Born:
Scenes from our Foundation
Have you ever wondered what the houses
where Fr. Chaminade lived or Mother Adele was born looked like... or
where Marie Thérèse de Lamourous worked? How did they think about their
vocation and their life journey? Listen as they tell us about their
life journeys and vocations.
With the program "Where We Were
Born," you can get a better idea of just these matters and more,
with the sights and sounds of our Heritage.
This video resource is available in
French, Spanish or English in a DVD (compatible in all regions) and a CD
format. The program is approximately thirty minutes.
If you are interested in purchasing
copies of the program in any of the three languages for use in
communities, schools, formation programs, etc., click here to view some scenes from the program and the order
