LAST CALL FOR HOME-SCHOOLING FAMILIES
Space is still available for the family retreat week beginning Oct. 2 for families who home school or who have younger children. The theme for this year’s family retreats is “God the Builder.” You can let God help you construct sturdier family lives – and have loads of fun at the same time – by coming on this retreat. Join with other families who home school or who have younger children in what will be a delightful week at the beach. For more information, please contact the center at (910) 328-1584 or by e-mail at cflcenter@charterinternet.com.

SPIRITUALITY FOR WOMEN – AT THE BEACH
A few spaces are also still available for the Spirituality for Women retreat that is being held Oct. 7 to 9. It will be lead by Carol Weiss, Fr. Rich Kuhn, and other lay and religious Marianists. For more information or an application, please contact the center at (910) 328-1584 or by e-mail at cflcenter@charterinternet.com. The retreat will start with dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening and conclude after lunch early on Sunday afternoon. The retreat will feature Eucharist, presentations, lots of time for individual reflection and recreation, and opportunities for small group sharing.

CLEANING UP FROM OPHELIA: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED SEP. 30-OCT. 2!
Compared to Katrina and Rita, Hurricane Ophelia was a lightweight. But our Category 1 friend did cause some damage to CFL. Our steps down to the beach were completely obliterated. The door to the chapel blew off and the Jaden Peterson bell was knocked down. The gutters on the Dining Room building were also knocked off as were a dozen or so shingles from the roofs. There was significant water damage to the Dining Room ceiling, and a window in the laundry room shattered. Overall damage is estimated to be about $2,500. We are having a work weekend Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 to repair this damage and complete some other projects. We will welcome all volunteers. There will be no charge for this weekend, but we welcome donations of $10 per person per day for food. If you are unable to attend the work weekend but want to send a donation to help cover some of the repairs, you can donate on-line at www.christianfamilyliving.org/Donate.htm or you can send a check to Marianist Family Ministry at 2006 Wicker St., North Topsail Beach, NC 28460.

A WONDERFUL SUMMER OF BUILDING AT CFL
101 families, comprised of 484 individuals from 15 different states and two foreign countries, joined “God the Builder” at CFL this summer. Many thanks to these families for participating and to all our volunteer retreat staff members for their tremendous work in making the summer so successful!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THESE UPCOMING CFL EVENTS
Consider coming to CFL for one or more of these events this fall and early winter: the 2nd Annual CFL Thanksgiving Work Weekend Nov. 23 to 27; the CFL Advent Family Weekend Retreats Dec. 2 to 4, 9 to 11, and 16 to 18; and the New Year’s Retreat for individuals and couples Dec. 30, 2005, to Jan. 1, 2006.

WELCOME LUCY KATHERINE!
Congratulations to Garland and Rebecca Rider-Yopp on the birth of their first child, Lucy Katherine, on August 31. Rebecca, the youngest daughter of Sue and Jim Rider, worked part-time as the CFL administrative assistant until her maternity leave started in July. Both Lucy and her mom are thriving, as are the proud grandparents.
