CALLING ALL HOME-SCHOOLING FAMILIES
Space is still available for the three family retreat weeks – Aug. 28 to Sep. 2, Sep. 11 to 16, and Oct. 2 to 7 – in late summer and early fall for families who home school or who have younger children. The theme for this year’s family retreats is “God the Builder.” You can let God help you construct sturdier family lives – and have loads of fun at the same time – by coming on one of these retreats. For more information, please contact the center at 910.328.1584 or by e-mail at cflcenter@charterinternet.com.

SPIRITUALITY FOR MEN AND WOMEN – IN THE FALL
There will be two special retreats weekends for adults this fall. Spirituality for Men will be Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. This retreat will be lead by the Marianist Community of Topsail Island. For more information on or an application, please telephone the Marianist Community at 910.328-6030. Spirituality for Women will be Oct. 7 to 9. It will be lead by Carol Weiss and other lay and religious Marianists. For more information or an application, please contact the center at 910.328.1584 or by e-mail at cflcenter@charterinternet.com. Each retreat will start with dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening and conclude after lunch early on Sunday afternoon. The retreats will feature Eucharist, presentations, time for individual reflection and recreation, and opportunities for small group sharing.

PREPARING FOR HURRICANES – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Hurricane season is upon us, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting a significantly higher than normal number of tropical storms and hurricanes this fall. The center is busily preparing for a possible close encounter with one or more of them. If a hurricane warning is issued or an evacuation ordered for the Topsail area, this information will be posted as quickly as possible on the CFL website, www.christianfamilyliving.org, and anyone scheduled to come to the center will be notified. Post-storm updates will also be posted on the web site so that the center’s many friends may receive timely and reliable information. The center is also actively recruiting volunteers who may be available to either come to CFL on very short notice to help us “bunker down” for the hurricane or to help with any post-storm clean-up or repairs. If you are able to be on these lists, please contact the center at 910.328.1584 or by e-mail at cflcenter@charterinternet.com.

JULY AT CFL
In addition to hosting four summer family retreats, the CFL Center welcomed members of the North Carolina Herpetological Society, Our Lady of Grace Youth Group from Greensboro (NC), the Catholic Young Adult group from the Diocese of Raleigh, and the Annunciation Parish Youth Group from Albemarle (NC).
