Chaminade Bands Earn Many Awards in Atlanta

Creve Coeur, MO, April 3, 2007 – The Chaminade Symphonic Band, Jazz Band I and PM Jazz Combo traveled to Atlanta March 29-April 1, where they participated in the “2007 Festivals of Music – Atlanta” competition. All 3 groups received Superior Ratings, as well as First Place in their respective categories.

In addition, the Symphonic Band earned the “William Revelli Concert Band Award” as the best concert band among all divisions. The Jazz Band I earned “Best Jazz Band Award” among all jazz groups. The rhythm section of the Jazz Band I was selected as “Best Jazz Band Section” and Alex Borje ’07 was named “Best Jazz Soloist” of the event.

These awards are the result of a long-standing tradition of excellence in the Chaminade Band Program in which nearly one-third of our students participate.

Chaminade College Preparatory School is a Catholic day and resident school for boys, grades 6-12, sponsored by the Marianist Province of the United States. Situated on 55 acres in suburban St. Louis, college credit courses are offered in all major subject areas. Extensive co-curricular activities complement 16 varsity sports.
