Inside this issue:
Dear
Friends,
As
I write this note Week #6 is well underway. It is hard to believe that we are
this far into the 2009 Summer Family Retreats. The first 5 weeks have been
filled with great joy, wonderful families and extremely hardworking
volunteers. It seems as if our theme, “Are
We There Yet?” is resonating with all of the
families…hmmm, I wonder why? I hope you have had the chance or will have
the chance to join us this summer. And if you are unable to be here we ask for
your continued prayers of support for all of the families and the volunteers
who serve in this ministry.
As
we look forward to our Autumn and Advent Retreats, I am certain there is an
upcoming retreat designed for you and/or your family. If not, maybe there is
an individual or a family you would like to encourage to attend one of our
retreats. See below for more information on what will be happening at the
Center later this year.
In
the meantime, have a happy August!
Anthony

Meet our new 2009-2010 Marianist Volunteer
Intern
I would like to
introduce you to our new 2009-2010 Marianist Volunteer Intern - Ashley Kleist.
Ashley comes to us from
Thank you,
Micah!
As we welcome Ashley,
I would like to publically thank Micah Ziemski, who finished her volunteer
internship this past July. Micah was a tremendous asset to our staff and just
a joy to be around. For those of you who got to know Micah you know what I
mean.
Micah truly shined
when Jessica, our Program Director, was out on maternity leave for 3 months
– taking over most of the Program responsibilities. What a blessing and
“sanity-saver” to have her during those months!
We all wish Micah
well as she heads back to the

Celebration of Marriage
Retreat
This weekend is intended for couples
married at least 10 years. It honors and celebrates the commitment of
marriage. Presentations and small group discussions address (1) how we got to
this point in our marriages, (2) where we are now and (3) what the future might
hold. We strike a deliberate balance among participation/reflection, liturgy,
free time and fun and plenty of "couple time." September 25-27 -

Green Tips brought to you by the
Save money and the environment by
replacing some of your cleaning products with baking soda:
1) Cleaning fruits
and vegetables. Sprinkle baking soda in
water, soak and rinse the fruits and vegetables.
2) Cleaning barbeque
grills. Spray baking soda on grills,
let soak and rinse.
3) Baby bottles.
Give a good cleaning with baking soda and warm water. (Add to bath water to
relieve diaper rash irritations.)
4) Keep drains
free-flowing. Put 4 tablespoons of
soda and flush down with hot water every week to prevent them from getting
plugged.
5) Clean canvas bags.
When produce leaves stains on your shopping canvas bags, use baking soda dry
and with a small brush rub canvas bag clean,

Marriage Moments and Parenting Pointers
On Marriage…
"Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect
hospitality." (Hebrews 13:1) The love you share is a gift that will grow
bigger and deeper if you share it with others. Don't hoard your love. Think of
ways you can open your home to those in need of a bed, some food, or a
listening ear.
On Parenting…
Memory
making sometimes means sharing one of your own childhood memories with your son
or daughter. Think of a funny, sad, or meaningful experience (or even a mistake
from your childhood) and entrust it to your child. It doesn't cost anything but
it can bring you closer together.
Blessings to All!
