Dear
Friends,
Three
weeks ago we held our annual “Heart of Winter” Retreat for juniors
and seniors in high school and freshmen and sophomores in college. The
emphasis of the retreat is on service – with a highlight on service
opportunities within the Marianist Family.
This
year our theme focused on The Beatitudes and the 18 young people we invited
really seemed to “get it.” It was a joy to be with them – to
hear their experiences of service and share ours.
A
highlight for me was watching Megan and
Peace

Young Adults Retreat Recap
This
past weekend we hosted 44 young adults to contemplate the question: “What on earth am I here for?”
The retreat was led by Fr. John Thompson, SM, a Marianist priest. Fr.
John’s presentations were complemented with prayer services and other
creative activities. Of course, we had our hilarious skits on Saturday night
– very funny!

***Financial Aid is available – please do not let the cost of a retreat be the obstacle that prevents you from joining us...***
This
retreat is intended for couples who are under 40ish +/- years old. We
will explore issues that challenge young couples in today’s
ever-demanding world. We will also look at our faith lives and how we can keep
God in our marriage. Our time will include small group sharing, Eucharist,
special liturgies and time for fun.
The
cost for this weekend is $230 per couple.
A Retreat for Widows and Widowers –
April 3-5
Come
join us to explore this winter of life, one we might not have chosen, but where
we find ourselves. Through prayer, meditation, individual and group activities
we will attempt to make peace with widowhood. The inspiration for this weekend
comes from a children’s book entitled “The Tree That Survived the
Winter” by Mary Fahy.
The
cost for this weekend is $115.
Families
with Young Children Retreat – May 15-17
This retreat is
intended for families with all children aged 7 and under. This retreat
is primarily for the parents (with a lot of babysitting!) -- a time of
reflection, support, sharing with other parents, and spiritual refreshment,
while the children are cared for and involved in age-appropriate activities.
The cost for this
weekend is $110 for each parent and $70 for each child over 2; under 2 are
free.
Women’s
Spirituality Retreat #2 – May 29-31
Join with other women
in a creative exploration of your own story and stories of women in faith. Come
alone, or with a relative or friend. A team of Marianist women has prepared
this weekend of rest and renewal. Eucharist, other prayer experiences, socials
and fun are included.
The cost for this
retreat is $115.
Spiritual
Direction available through the Marianist Center in Philadelphia
Spiritual direction encourages you to explore a
closer relationship with God. In the midst of a busy life, many people find it
difficult to notice God’s action in their daily affairs. Yet, at the
deepest level, all of us long for a more conscious experience of God’s
presence and love.
In spiritual direction, you reflect deeply on the experiences of your
daily life. Gradually, as you contemplate, you may begin to recognize
God’s presence and grace in your life. You may come to realize how
God’s spirit is truly with you every day and every where.
Spiritual direction is really not about being “directed”.
Rather, it is very much about being encouraged to
draw closer to God. Discover how God has been waiting for you to seek
this closer relationship.

Marriage Moments and Parenting Pointers
"Be subject to one another out of reverence for
Christ." (Ephesians 5:21) The mutual love, respect, and servanthood that
this scripture refers to goes both ways. Look for a way to yield to your spouse
today. Not all days, just today.
On Parenting…
"We
are responsible for the process we use in parenting, not the outcome. Our
children have free will and can choose their own paths, even destructive ones.
We can guide but we can't control. Sometimes all we can do is pray."
Blessings to All!
