"Mahalo" to Chaminade College Preparatory
|
|

|
|
The national office for Marianist LIFE would like to thank
Chaminade College Preparatory in West
Hills, CA for their
time, talent, and treasure as it pertains to the Ohana Project. The Ohana
Project is a fundraising initiative for Marianist LIFE where one
institution partners with another institution to raise funds for student
participants in need of financial assistance to attend any of our three
regional summer programs. Its official inception began in the summer of 2004
when Chaminade College Preparatory (West Hills,
CA) sold graduation leis to allow St. Joseph's Parish (Hilo, HI)
to attend Marianist LIFE Pacific that same summer. Chaminade College
Preparatory has continued their annual financial support toward institutions
from the Pacific region of the United States. "Ohana"
is a Hawaiian word translated to mean "family."
Pictured above are
Bro. Jack Ventura, SM (Asst. for the Office of the Religious Life), Kristin
Firestone (Director of Campus Ministry & Religion Teacher at Chaminade),
April Kramer (Religion Teacher at Chaminade) and Brian Reavey (National
Coordinator) presenting their certificate of appreciation. The presentation
took place at the regional administrative team meeting in Scottsdale, AZ
last month. We would like to also mention, in particular, Eric Cadena, Rudy
Garcia, and Mary Ann (Bernardo) Datoc for their continued support and prayers
for the Ohana Project. We are
extremely grateful for your assistance!

Commemorate the Marianist Martyrs of Madrid
|
|

|
|
On October 28, four
members of the Society of Mary who lost their lives during the religious persecutions
in Spain in 1936 were
beatified in Rome.
To commemorate the beatifications, the Province has prepared a prayer service
for use by schools, organizations, communities or Marianist lay groups. The
prayer service was created by Bro. Bob Jones of Purcell-Marian
High School in Cincinnati. In addition, Bro. Bob Wood
(Marianist Residence, San Antonio)
has written a hymn to use with the prayer service. The prayer service is
available in large and small group formats. Click
here for more information and to view the prayer services.
