Football Tournament at Mousibari

The REDS organization organized a football tournament for the street children and rag picking boys and girls from Tokitoli, Hatia, Khadgarha, Mousibari, Doranda, Pahadi, Hatma and Prerna center in Gyan Deep. The tournament was held in Mousibadi ground near Jahanathpur. There were 500 children participating in this program. It began in the morning at 9 a.m. with March Pass. Bro. Pauls Lakra, S.M. inaugurated the football tournament. There were 13 teams participating in the tournament. We invited Chief Guest Mr. Hermon Tigga DSP of (JAP-10), Jahanathpur. He came for the final match at 2:30 p.m. The children of Mousibadi center welcomed him with a song. He inaugurated the final match and later distributed prizes to the winning teams. The winning boys’ teams were Boys Hatia and Runners from Mousibadi. The winning girls’ teams were Girls Mousibadi and Runners from Toki toli center.

All the children tried to win and showed good performance in the match. Our guest was very happy to see their performance. He encouraged them to be good players. Today no one supports these poor children to advance in their life, but REDS is trying to make their better life. He mentioned that the activity of REDS is a good effort for development of these children. If they get support then they can live a better life like others. He gave examples of many of the best players of India and ‘Pele of Italy’. He wished for them to become the best players in the future like Pele.

There also were volunteers from six centers and they cooperated to make the day successful. Parents of Mousibadi center helped us make food for lunch, which consists of rice, dal, vegetables and bananas. They fed the children center by center.

The program was finished successfully at 5 p.m. The children were very happy to get shields and medals. We gave consolation prizes for the other centers who did not get any medals. Bro.Alex Toppo, S.M, the director of REDS, gave the vote of thanks.
