Mary, gift of God, gives us Jesus who is Life, to be incarnated in us, so that we may give Him to others and He may become rooted in those to whom we are sent. As missionaries of Mary, we are to be attentive to life, accompany persons in their growth, and discern with Her the signs of the times and the new ways that will allow Christ to do His work through us and as Marianist Family (From Women of Hope, 15).
Marianist Spirituality calls us to pursue personal growth, cultivate a personal relationship with Mary, practice hospitality, and build community. Our spirituality is contemplative and apostolic, leads us to conversion of the heart, and is a powerful witness to the world.
We emphasize our communal life as a source of personal support and encouragement for our ministires; we also work to build an apostolic community with those we serve. We gradually become women of faith, who see the realities of our times with the eyes of God and try to respond with the heart of God.
With Mary as our model, we nurture the qualities of discipleship:
- Prayer and attentiveness to God
- Shared Leadership
As an international Congregation we are called to witness that it is possible to be a single family reaching across countries and cultures (From To the Ends of the Earth, 26). Today, the Marianist Sisters are present in 14 countries:
- Africa (Togo and the Ivory Coast)
- Asia (Japan, Korea, India)
- Europe (France, Spain, Italy)
- North America (Dayton, Ohio; San Antonio, Texas)
- South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Brazil, Argentina)
