MEMBERS OF COMMON BOND REUNITE, REVIVE FAITH AND FRIENDSHIPS
|Members of Common Bond at the group’s reunion in Dayton, held July 27 – 28|
About 200 members of Common Bond and their guests reunited in Dayton on July 27 – 28. Common Bond is an association of former members of the Society of Mary that strives to foster and strengthen the faith and friendships created during the members’ experience as Marianists. “Common Bond is a fine example of our Marianist sense of building community and staying connected,” said Provincial Marty Solma, who attended the reunion.
Common Bond members hold a formal reunion every three years; this year’s events were organized by Myron Achbach. Highlights included a gravesite liturgy at Queen of Heaven Cemetery and a special Mass at the University of Dayton on July 28. Fr. Pat Tonry served as the main celebrant, assisted by Deacon Mike Maho, a member of Common Bond.
“Many report that the quality of exchange between people with this common experience of life is something rare and priceless, manifesting an intensity and depth of feeling only possible between people who know one other very well and trust one another very much,” said Luis González, newly elected president of Common Bond. “Great joy, lifting hope, and life-giving energy are three instant gifts that spring from their exchange about the multiple paths taken along the way.” Read Luis’ reflection. SEPTEMBER FEAST DAYS
