MARIANIST CANDIDATES FOR SAINTHOOD INSPIRE PRAYER, DEVOTION
As Chaminade Year draws to a close, members of the Marianist Family continue to celebrate the founder’s influence. The intercession of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, whose cause for canonization is being considered in Rome, is most recently credited with the healing of St. Louisan Rachel Lozano of terminal cancer. The Vatican is investigating this cure, described in an article from the St. Louis Review from July 2010. Learn more about Blessed Chaminade’s Cause for Canonization.
As the newly appointed U.S. Province liaison to the Postulator General for Marianist Causes, Fr. Paul Landolfi (left) promotes the cause of Blessed Chaminade and those of the other Marianist martyrs and venerables. Thanks toBro. John Samaha, who served well in this role for 10 years. Fr. Antonio Gascón serves as the Postulator General in Rome.
With the readers of FamilyOnline, Fr. Paul shares an inspiring talk given by Rachel on World Youth Day, Aug. 15, 2011, at the Colegio Nuestra Señora del Pilarin Madrid. Her cure, she said, is “an unexplainable miracle that I attribute to prayers of intercession to Blessed Chaminade and God’s miraculous healing. I cannot express enough how eternally grateful I am for this special gift.”
One of Fr. Paul’s responsibilities is to encourage others to learn about these holy Marianists and to seek their intercession. “These individuals can serve as role models for all of us — religious and lay alike — in living the Marianist charism,” said Fr. Paul. “As members of the Marianist Family, we are called to give witness to the world as a ‘nation of saints.’”
Chaminade Year concludes on Jan. 22, 2012 — the 162nd anniversary of Father Chaminade’s death. FamilyOnline would like to hear how Marianist Family members marked the occasion. Submit photos and information about your closing celebrations.
On Jan. 4, 2012, Rachel gave a talk to the students at Chaminade Madonna College Preparatory in Hollywood, Fla. “When I asked a student how she felt about the whole experience, she told me that listening to Mrs. Lozano touched her deeply in her soul,” said Rev. Larry Doersching, president. “Rachel is a true inspiration to our youth.” Read Rachel’s blog.
