“MARIANIST HIGH SCHOOL REUNION” HONORS EIGHT SCHOOLS

On Nov. 4, the Marianist Province of the United States hosted a “Marianist High School Reunion” in St. Louis for alums and former faculty and administrators of the eight secondary schools the Marianists sponsored in the greater St. Louis area. Three of the schools remain open: Chaminade College Preparatory, St. Mary’s High School and St. John Vianney High School. Five schools have closed: Assumption High School (East St. Louis, Ill.), Cathedral High School (Belleville, Ill.), Coyle High School, DeAndreis High School and McBride High School. Almost 40 Marianist brothers and priests who taught or administered at the schools were present at the event; the group sang “Salve Regina” in Latin as a prayerful gift for the attendees. A silent auction was held with artwork by Bros. Cletus Behlmann, Mel Meyer, Bob Resing and Brian Zampier. Current students from Chaminade, St. Mary’s and Vianney served as greeters and parking lot attendants. “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many alums from St. Louis Marianist high schools,” said Fr. Marty Solma, provincial. “Many expressed appreciation for the evening and for the Marianist education they had received.”
