PROVINCE LAUNCHES SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
After two years of work by a Province task force, a proposal on a new Sponsorship model has been approved by the leadership of the Marianist Province of the United States. Although the Province has worked on sponsorship for many years, the latest model is a more intentional approach to the sponsorship of the Province’s three universities, 19 secondary and middle schools and four retreat centers. An Office of Sponsorship is being formed, with a director reporting to a volunteer Sponsorship Commission. The Province is seeking a director for the office.
Provincial Fr. Marty Solma says that in today’s changed circumstances, the Province of the United States cannot extend its educational and formational legacy as it did in the past. “This new structure, as a ministry of service, will build on existing partnerships with ministries and lay collaborators,” he said. “We are committed to providing the formation and resources to enhance the Marianist charism, which is a gift from God.”
The new Office of Formation for Mission, headed by Bro. Stephen Glodek, and the North American Center for Marianist Studies (NACMS), headed by Carol Ramey, will work with the Office of Sponsorship to provide formation resources to sponsored organizations and others. “This new structure will promote a stronger relationship and deeper promotion of the Marianist spirit and charism of Blessed Chaminade and Venerables Adèle and Marie Thérèse,” Fr. Marty said.
