MARIANIST SISTERS HONORED FOR 50 YEARS OF SERVICE TO UD
At a ceremony on Oct. 8, the Marianist Sisters were honored for 50 years of service at the University of Dayton, where they are an integral part of campus life, teaching, ministering to students, faculty and staff, and helping coordinate the sustainability, energy and environment initiative on campus. They founded the graduate assistant program in campus ministry and connected UD’s community with migrant and Hispanic Catholics.
About 150 people attended the prayer service, presided by Sr. Laura Leming. A reception followed, during which President Daniel Curran thanked the sisters for their service and presented Provincial Evangeline Escobar with a commemorative vase. Sr. Evangeline shared remarks about her history with UD and the early days of the FMI community at Marycrest Hall. Bro. Don Smith presented the sisters with a cross, and Sr. Leanne Jablonski thanked the crowd for their support. Congratulations, sisters! Read more from UD.
